The 2010 Allan Hopkins Super Billiards Expo, considered by many to be the year's premier pool event, is right around the corner. Here's a preview of the events scheduled to take place from March 18-21 at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
PROFESSIONAL EVENTS
This tournament, which will feature a veritable who's who of international pool players, is not to be missed. Enter once ($500) for 3 chances to win.
Event 1 - The Main Event
Thursday, March 18 through Sunday, March 21
Format
- 10-Ball
- Single elimination
- 2 out of 3 sets
- Races to 6
- Rotate break
- $10,000 guaranteed 1st place payout
- All players will play on day 1. Half of the field will be eliminated and will return to play in Event 2 on Friday and Event 3 on Saturday.
- The surviving players will return to compete in Event 1, Round 2 on Friday evening.
- The players eliminated Friday evening will return to play in Event 3 on Saturday.
EVENT 2 - Top 8 players win $500 each
Friday, March 19
Format
- 10-Ball
- Single elimination
- 2 out of 3 sets
- Races to 6
- Rotate break
- The players eliminated in Event 1, Round 1 will play in this event on Friday. Play will commence until only 8 players remain, and all 8 will be paid $500 each.
EVENT 3 - Top 6 players win $1000 each
Saturday, March 20
Format
- 10-Ball
- Single elimination
- Races to 7
- Rotate break
- All players eliminated in Event 1, Rounds 1 and 2 will play in this event on Saturday. Play will commence until only 6 players remain, and all 6 will be paid $1000 each.
- The top half of the field will all get paid. The players that survive day 1 are all guaranteed $100, since they will not be playing in Event 2.

Take your best shot in this challenging 32 player event--open to anyone and everyone who wants to play.
Format
- 9-Ball
- Races to 6, best 2 out of 3 sets
- Single elimination
- $4000 1st prize (based on full field), with final payouts determined by total number of entrants
- Field of up to 32 players
- Entry fee $300.00
Begins Thursday, March 18 - 11am
Anyone is eligible to play in what is perhaps the world's largest open amateur event in the world--no league affiliations, no handicaps, no qualifiers, no teams--just you and your skills.
Format
- 9-Ball
- Races to 5, best 2 out of 3 sets
- Single elimination
- $5000 guaranteed 1st prize with final payouts determined by total number of entrants.
- This event pays the top 64 players of the total field. First place is guaranteed $5000, extra monies are added "down the line" for payouts.
- Field of up to 1024 players
- As the event draws near, field sizes subject to change due to time and space constraints. Sometimes we make room for more players, sometimes we have to stop taking entries.
- Entry fee $75.00

Begins Friday, March 19 - 7pm
Come on down ladies, and play with many of the top amateur women in the world. In years past, several WPBA players have played in this event - before moving on to the big time!
Format

- Races to 5, best 2 out of 3 sets
- Single elimination
- Final payouts determined by total number of entrants. This event pays roughly 10% of the final field; for example, if 115 players show up - we will pay the top 16. First place is guaranteed $1200, but may go up depending on field size.
- Field of up to 128 players
- As the event draws near, field sizes subject to change due to time and space constraints. Sometimes we make room for more players, sometimes we have to stop taking entries.
- Entry fee $75.00

Pick on someone your own age! Come and play in this fun and competitive event with some of the best, most knowledgeable senior (50+) shooters around.

- Single elimination
- Final payouts determined by total number of entrants. This event pays roughly 10% of the final field; for example, if 345 players show up - we will pay the top 32. First place is guaranteed $2500, but may go up depending on field size.
- Field of up to 256 players
- As the event draws near, field sizes subject to change due to time and space constraints. Sometimes we make room for more players, sometimes we have to stop taking entries.
- Entry fee $75.00

As part of his committment to help promote billiards to future generations, Allen Hopkins has decided to make all Juniors events completely free! Even though the event is now free to play in, the winners will receive trophies, prizes, and a scholarship fund. The scholarship will be comprised of funds generated by the Pro-Am Charity Event on Wednesday evening.
Format
- 9-Ball
- Races to 4, best 2 out of 3 sets
- Single elimination
- Prizes include scholarships and trophies to the winner or each division, plus trophies and other prizes to top finishers.
- Field of up to 64 players in each division:
- 17 and Under
- 12 and Under

Saturday & Sunday afternoons
The 2nd Chance Scramble is a 2-day event open to any amateur player who has entered and been knocked out of any other tournament at the Expo. There will be 2 divisions: Men's and Women's. This event will start Saturday afternoon and the winners will crowned Sunday afternoon.

- Races to 5
- Single elimination
- Field of up to 128 players in each division:
- Mens Division
- Womens Division
- Entry fee $50.00
Open exclusively to TAP League players.
CHARITY EVENT
Play with some of the top players in the world at the Pro-Am Charity Event. 100% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Juniors Division scholarship payouts.
Format
- 9-Ball
- Scotch Doubles
- Each team will consist of 1 Professional player and up to 3 Amateur players.
- Teams will compete for 15-20 minutes and then rotate to play another team. Scores will be kept for each session, with the 2 highest-scoring teams competing in the final round.
- Entry fee $25
