3-Year-Old Pool Prodigy Sets World Record

From the APA: On Aug. 29, Keith O’Dell, Jr. set the world record for the youngest person to legally jump a cue ball over a full pool ball. The record has been accepted by the World Record Academy and is in the works to get it online and in the record book.

Three-year-old Keith, Jr., set the record at his family home. His father, Keith, Sr., says that the first time he jumped, it was an accident. He and his father were playing a game of 8-Ball and the cue ball became frozen to the rail. Keith, Jr., jacked up to shoot and the cue ball came off the table. “I sent McDermott a video of him jumping and they built Keith an amazing custom jump cue from his own (Pool Prodigy) line,” Keith, Sr., said. “The day we got the jump cue, he jumped the cue ball into the rack and the rest is history.”

NYC Grind's Kiss of Death Web Series Episode 10: "Hard Eight"

The tenth episode of NYC Grind's web series "Kiss of Death" is now available. This series, which originally airs weekly on YouTube and Blip.tv (Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. EST), follows the ladies of the team "Kiss of Death" throughout the weeks leading up to the BCAPL National 8-Ball Championships, where they will compete in the Masters Team Division.

In this episode ("Hard Eight"), team Kiss of Death competes in the Masters Division for the first time in Las Vegas in the 34th Annual BCAPL 8-ball Championships. Team Captain Gail Glazebrook went through the field of 402 Women to capture the Women's Open 8-Ball Championships earlier in the event, and the team looked to build on that success. KOD also sweats the US Open 10-Ball Championships which ran in conjunction with the BCAPL team event. Be sure to watch the video for a mash up of billiards action in Vegas. This episode is longer than most of the episodes, as to pack in as much of the action as possible.

A Pool Shark Robot, Oh My!

Geeky but awesome. Check out Willow Garage's new pool shark robot, the PR2. This guy may look like an easy mark, but the PR2 doesn't rely on remote controls wielded by humans to make its shots. Instead, it utilizes two high-resolution cameras equipped with a "color blob tracker" and special software to plan its shots.

While we're safe from being hustled by robots for now, this guy was developed in only one week and pocketed five balls during his "exhibition."

9 Ball Match-Exciting Race to 7-Great Pool Shots

This is HOT! Thorsten Hohmann and Mike Massey are some of the best pool players in the world. Enjoy this video of a race to 7 playing 9 ball between them. Some of the better filming of pool that I have seen. Great music and great pool shots. Video courtesy of Jordidonosti.

Notice the Super Aramith Pro TV billiard ball set that they are shooting pool with... the pink and brown balls really stand out. They would make a great gift for any pool player.
