Professional Billiard Players Launch Protection Association

During a May 17 press conference, pro players Johnny Archer, Rodney Morris and Stevie Moore announced formation of the Association for Billiard Players (ABP).

This association has been formed to protect professional billiard players and will serve as a method for guaranteeing professional players' payment in events; control the ranking points system for professional players; provide a mechanism for protecting professional players against unforseen issues; and eventually provide health insurance benefits and retirement funds for professional players.

The ABP also declared that all promoters will have to adhere to its stipulations, which will be provided in the near future.

The ABP has been working with the Billiard Congress of America (BCA) to assist with administration, entry fee collection, promoter fees and added monies. The BCA will aid in the eventual ranking system turnover as well.

The current ABP roster includes some of the biggest names in the game: Johnny Archer, Rodney Morris, Stevie Moore, Mike Davis, Shawn Putnam, Shane Van Boening, Mike Immonen, Charlie Williams, Thorsten Hohmann, Corey Deuel, John Schmidt and Oscar Dominguez.
