The Art of Pool

Check out these awesome artists expressing themselves through pool.

Trippy Interactive Billiard Ball Music Installation

This trippy interactive music installation by artist Caroline Grivellaro features 16 fiberglass billiard balls suspended from the ceiling and is featured at the Contemporary Art Museum in Morelia, Mexico. Participants, which represent the cue ball and its infinite possibility of trajectories, trigger snippets of electronic music by standing underneath each billiard ball. The possible sound combinations are innumerable--the more participants, the more musical chaos created.

Practice Shots Never Looked So Good

In this video, artist Tome Kroejer shoots billiard balls dipped in paint to create really cool large-scale art.

Congratulations Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour 37th Stop Winner Stan Tourangeau!!

The 37th stop on the 2009-2010 Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was hosted during the weekend of April 10-11 in Portland, OR, at Nite Hawk. The $1,500 added "Memorial 9-Ball Tournament" featured a full 48-player field (with an ample waiting list) in a double-elimination format on 8-foot bar boxes.

Stan Tourangeau ran undefeated to the hot seat, capping off his march with an A-side semifinals win over Pat Schumacher (Portland, OR) 9-4 and an A-side finals win over Jesse Allred (Medford, OR) 9-8. In the other A-side semis match, Allred had earlier defeated Bob Olsen (Portland, OR) 9-6.

On the B-side Scott Snyder (Vancouver, WA) and Bill Rosenberry (Portland, OR) tied for 7th place – victims of Bob Zack (Portland, OR) 9-6 and Eddie Mataya (Seattle, WA) 9-7 respectively. Both Mataya and Zack had their momentum upended in the next round, as both tied for 5th place at the hands of Pat Schumacher (Portland, OR) 9-7 and Bob Olsen 9-6 respectively. Schumacher then ended Olsen’s run at 4th place by a 9-2 margin. In the B-side finals, Jesse Allred eliminated Schumacher at 3rd place 9-7. The tourney final was one-race to 11, and Stan Tourangeau (holder of numerous North American amateur titles) kept control throughout to take the title over Jesse Allred by an 11-6 margin!

By virtue of Pat Schumacher being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 8-Ball singles entry into the 2010 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.

Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour sponsors include: Pool Cue Guru, Lucasi Hybrid Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric, Nick Varner Signature Cases and Billiard Gods Productions. All entries in the Tour are also entered into a drawing in June for a $950-$1,000 Lucasi Hybrid Cue.

Congratulations Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour 36th Stop Winner Trey Jankowski!!

The 36th stop on the 2009-2010 Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was hosted on April 10 in Port Charlotte, FL, at Q's Sports Bar & Girl. The $500 added event featured 14 players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes.

The quarter-final winner’s side saw Wayne Agnew of Venice best Bob Buntrock of Fort Myers 4-0 as Tony Durbin of Plant City got by Rom Nichols of North Port 4-3. This set up the “rocking chair” match between Agnew and Durbin, who earned a tightly fought 4-3 win over Agnew.

On the one loss side of the tournament, Shawn “Pokie” Collie of Port Charlotte, went down to Rom Nichols 4-3, as Trey Jankowski of North Port sent Bob Buntrock home to Fort Myers. This led to Jankowski drumming Agnew 4-3, setting up the final match. Jankowski, having one loss, had to beat Durbin two sets to win the event. Jankowski came to play as demonstrated with his dominant first set win 4-0. Durbin fought back the second set but came up short, and was sent back to Plant City by Jankowski’s commanding 4-2 win!

As the highest finishing ACS (American Cue Sports) league player, Jankowski also won a 9 Ball singles entry into the 2010 ACS Nationals, June 6-12th in Las Vegas.
